Immersing into culture and history: The cultural landscape here in South Tyrol is more than just exciting. Numerous museums and interesting exhibitions can be found all across the region, but especially here in the west, in the Puster Valley and Val Badia. The Messner Mountain Museum Corones and Ripa, the Museum Ladin Ursus ladinicus, Ladin Ciastel de Tor, various nature park houses and the City Museum of Brunico welcome year after year many interested visitors.
The MMM Corones is situated on the top of the Mount Kronplatz at 2,275 m above sea level. Up there, you can find out more about the traditional alpinism, which was decisively shaped by Reinhold Messner, South Tyrol’s most prominent mountain climber. Not only the exhibition itself is impressive, but also the panoramic view over the Dolomites, the Puster Valley and the Zillertal Alps.
Right here in San Vigilio di Marebbe, at the entrance of the valley Val de Mareo, the nature park house greets visitors of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. A must see for everyone who wants to find out more about the origins of the Dolomites, the cave bear of Conturines, the park’s main habitats, its geomorphology or the traditional Ladin culture and mythology!
The archeology museum Mansio Sebatum in San Lorenzo has been inaugurated in 2011. It is the first museum in South Tyrol that illustrates the Roman settlement history here in Puster Valley and displays all sorts of curiosities dating back to that era. Visitors can fully immerse into the Roman era, experience the settlement history of Mansio Sebatum first-hand and marvel at some of the extraordinary findings of the area.
